About Our founder

For my entire life I have navigated the world with visual impairment, blind and with low vision. My passion for technology and independence has been the driving force behind my unique journey. In 2011, I acquired a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird KITT Replica, a right-hand drive which I have transformed over the years into KITT Replica Knight Rider 80s tv show, which I've proudly displayed in car shows and driven almost daily. This car is not just a vehicle but a canvas where I've reimagined technology that was science fiction then, but science fact over 30years later through the lens of visual impairment. From a redesigned lower console that accommodates my vision to a dual battery system, each modification reflects my personal touch and understanding of accessible design. My innovations extend beyond aesthetics; I've integrated practical technologies like LED Daytime Running Lights, a touchscreen entertainment system with Bluetooth, and even a fingerprint security ignition start. The car's tech-savvy nature is complemented by an Android tablet for GPS and entertainment, echoing my affinity for integrating technology into daily life. This passion also translates into my personal use of assistive devices like the Orcam MyEye 2, a game-changer in reading and recognizing my surroundings. My journey in cybersecurity further showcases my dedication to overcoming challenges. Completing a Cert IV in Cyber Security from TAFE Cairns in 2021, amidst cataract surgery and the pandemic, was a testament to my resilience. My participation in the Australian Defence Force Cyber Gap Program in 2022, where I was selected from thousands of applicants, not only honed my skills but also expanded my perspective in both civilian and defense cyber sectors. At the heart of my endeavors lies a long-standing dream - to create a device that enables the visually impaired and totally blind to drive independently. This project, which embodies my lifetime of experiences and insights, aims to be an affordable, easy-to-use, and universally compatible system, leveraging current and future technologies. My life's work, marked by milestones from mastering basic car maintenance to understanding complex electronics with my husband Robert, has always been about pushing boundaries. The vision for Pilgari Systems is more than a business goal; it's a personal mission to empower and transform the lives of those who, like myself, yearn for independence and the freedom to explore the world on their terms.
